Tommy passed the note to Kate, Kate passed it to Joe, Joe was an asshole and opened the note instead of passing it to Rachel to whom it was actually intended for. Joe in that moment got up from his seat and read the note out loud; “Roses are red, violets are pretty, lets have lunch.” There were two square boxes on the bottom of the note for young Rachel to fill in the answer stating yes or no next to each one of them.
Tommy who as we can see had no feature as a poet ran out of the classroom, Rachel was blushing, she was a 9 year old girl who was a little husky and nobody had ever shown any interest in her. Rachel smiled for the rest of the class.
After 20 minutes the Principal entered the classroom dragging Tommy by the ear, he pushed him inside and closed the door behind him, the teacher shouted at him as he took the second grade equivalent to a walk of shame back to his seat where to his surprise he found a note that inside had the word yes written in it.
The bell rang and Tommy rushed out, Rachel didn’t understand, she looked confused and as she got down to the playground she found Tommy sitting down in the center of the patio, holding a flower he had just ripped out of the school’s garden and holding half a sandwich he had just divided for them to eat.
She ran towards Tommy and as she got closer she got hit by a dodge ball in the face, she fell down, her nose started pouring out blood and her eyes started watering. Tommy rushed to her, and as she covered her face she said “don’t look at me I look horrible.” Tommy hugged her and said, “That’s impossible”.
